Capital Playhouse
The Will Rogers Follies
Set Design by Jon Ares.
Capital Playhouse, at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts, Olympia, Washington - Summer 2000.
Will Rogers Follies Directed by Troy Arnold Fisher, and featuring Jeff Kingsbury as Will Rogers. Choreography by Amanda Blair Ellis.
The set was basically reminiscent of Florenz Ziegfeld’s fascination of grand staircases, which of course, showcased his lightly-clad dancers’ legs.
Not seen in these pictures was the show curtain — a grand drape of gold mylar; a flying header of Vaudeville theatre marquees and playbills; Betty descending on the moon; Will descending on a rope for his grand entrance; Will’s father descending from Heaven with a set of wings; and swags of translucent red-white-and-blue bunting.
